ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Authorities Thursday morning raided Smoke World Smoke Shop, a Rio Rancho business that may be dealing in the synthetic marijuana market, Rio Rancho police spokesman Nick Onken said.
Rio Rancho police working with agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration executed search warrants at the shop, at 3301 Southern Blvd, and at a residence in Rio Rancho, Onken said in a new release.
The search warrants resulted from several weeks of “intense investigation by the agencies,” the release said.
Rio Rancho police several months ago became aware of the possibility that the business was dealing in the synthetic marijuana market, Onken said.
Detectives with the department then began an investigation, working with agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration.
“Recent allegations provided substantial information leading to the warrants,” the release said.
Arrests have yet to be made, and an investigation is continuing, police said.
