ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A national conservation information organization recently recognized the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish as best in the country in three categories at the nonprofit’s recent annual conference in Midway, Utah.

The Association for Conservation Information presented the department’s Public Information and Outreach Division with first-place awards for magazine, graphics, and education and outreach.

The winning entries were:

  • Magazine: For “New Mexico Wildlife,” a full-color quarterly tabloid featuring articles about hunting, fishing, wildlife management and conservation. The publication is inserted in newspapers statewide.
  • Education and Outreach: For the New Mexico Wildlife Conservation Education presentation presented in classrooms and elsewhere by conservation officers and other department staff.
  • Graphics: For a set of three, 4-foot-by-8-foot banners celebrating each decade of 100 years of conservation in New Mexico, coinciding with New Mexico’s Centennial celebration in 2012.
