ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Las Cruces police are looking for the driver of a red GMC or Chevrolet pickup truck involved in a hit-and-run crash Wednesday night that left a bicyclist hospitalized in critical condition, police said in a news release.

Some time before 9 p.m., the bicyclist was struck near the 1800 block of South Valley Drive in Las Cruces and was found lying several feet from the place of initial impact, police said. He was taken to Memorial Medical Center with possibly life-threatening injuries.

According to police, the pickup driver didn’t stop to render aid but drove south of Valley Drive dragging the bicycle that was lodged underneath his vehicle.

The bicycle was found on South Main Street beneath the Interstate 10 overpass, according to police.

Anyone with information on the driver or the location of the vehicle, which may have some front-end damage, is asked to call police at (575) 526-0795.
