Albuquerque police say a substantial amount of crack cocaine was found inside the body of a driver of a vehicle that struck a semi cab parked on the shoulder of Interstate 40.
Officer Simon Drobik says the cocaine was found in a body cavity as the person was going into emergency surgery after being injured in the accident late Monday.
According to Drobik, the person was driving a vehicle that veered into the shoulder and struck the semi cab. It then spun back into a traffic lane and collided with a third vehicle.
A second person in the vehicle that struck the semi also was critically injured. The semi’s driver wasn’t injured and the driver of the third vehicle was hospitalized in stable condition.
Identities haven’t been released.
