Taos Pueblo: See it before you die, Fodor’s says

........................................................................................................................................................................................

Been to Taos Pueblo yet?

Maybe it’s time.

Taos Pueblo has made Fodor’s list of the top 20 U.S. places “to see before you die.”

Fodor’s, a popular travel guide publisher, included the Northern New Mexico community alongside the likes of Times Square in New York City, Fenway Park in Boston and the Grand Canyon.

Recently published online, the list is billed as a lineup of “the places, signs, and monuments that represent the best of what America is all about.”

Fodor’s cited the pueblo for its multi-story adobe dwellings. The buildings likely were constructed between 1000 and 1450, according to the pueblo’s website.

“As though frozen in time, Taos Pueblo today appears much as it did when the first Spanish explorers arrived in New Mexico in 1540, and inside, the traditional Native American way of life endures,” the Fodor’s website says.

The Fodor’s write-up also encourages visitors to chat with the pueblo’s friendly residents and try some fry bread.
