ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The 19th Santa Fe Trail Bicycle Trek will leave Santa Fe on Sept. 8.
Riders are invited to ride all or part of the estimated 1,100 miles of the trail on paved roads. After the first four days, riders can leave the group at any point along the route.
The ride is a camping trip with gear carried by truck. Meals are either provided by schools or universities, or catered. No cooking is required in camps.
The cost is $44 per day and includes breakfast, dinner, camp sites (with showers), daily ride sheets and maps.
The nonprofit Santa Fe Trail Bicycle Committee organizes trips to provide a safe, fun and inexpensive trip, as well as provide a venue for riders to explore and learn about the Santa Fe Trail’s history and contribution to the western expansion of the United States. The route stretches from Santa Fe to New Franklin, Mo.
