Gov. Susana Martinez is spending time on the East Coast this week in an attempt to bolster her re-election war chest.
The first-term Republican governor, who is up for re-election in 2014, left yesterday on a three-day trip that will include political fundraisers in Philadelphia and New York, her political adviser Jay McCleskey said.
Martinez has traveled out of state frequently this year, attending campaign fundraisers in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, California and Washington D.C.
She reported having $1.5 million on hand in her campaign fund as of April, the most recent mandatory state campaign filing deadline.
The governor’s re-election campaign is covering the travel costs for her latest trip, McCleskey said.
Martinez will also attend a Thursday private campaign fundraiser in Midland, Texas, before returning to New Mexico.
