Feds offer $2 million to repair flood-damaged NM roads

........................................................................................................................................................................................

The federal government announced that it will free up $2 million to New Mexico for the repair of roads and bridges damaged by ongoing floods.

The U.S. Department of Transportation said the money represents “only the beginning” of its commitment to restoring roads here. The department estimated damages at $9 million but said that number should increase after more detailed assessments.

Funds will come from the Federal Highway Administration’s Emergency Relief Program, from which more money could be drawn in the future.
