DaVinci’s Gourmet Pizza is getting a change of scenery.

Owner John Mickey is preparing to shutter DaVinci’s original location in the far Northeast Heights in favor of a new spot in the University of New Mexico’s North Campus area.

Mickey said he hopes to complete the move to the new site — 2904 Indian School NE — in the next few weeks.

As part of the relocation, Mickey said DaVinci’s will introduce a morning menu with breakfast calzones and pizza, coffee and espresso drinks, and house-made baked goods.

“We’re trying to maximize our day and have a lot more traffic for that kind of thing (on Indian School) than we do where we’re at now,” he said.

DaVinci’s — which has been located at 5809 Juan Tabo NE since 2005 — won’t tinker much with its lunch and dinner offerings, although Mickey hopes to eventually add sandwiches, beer and wine.

DaVinci’s is taking over a 1,400-square-foot former auto shop at Indian School and Girard. As part of the remodel, crews have converted the old bays into the kitchen and part of the counter and dining room, though Mickey said he plans to keep the restrooms separate in a nod to the building’s past life as a gas station.
