Vendor violations down at Fiesta

........................................................................................................................................................................................

Albuquerque officials say health inspectors found far fewer violations by vendors at the recently concluded Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta this year than the past two years.

The Consumer Health Protection Division of the city’s Environmental Health Department said 56 violations involving 42 vendors were reported, down from 133 in 2011 and 70 in 2012.

The department cited improvements in on-site supervision of vendors by the food concessions manager, Ovations Food Services.

The city officials say the most significant reductions in violations over the past two years involved proper temperatures for foods and use of sanitizer.
