ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Page One has found a new home.
As we reported earlier this year, the Albuquerque independent bookseller is leaving its existing location at Juan Tabo/Montgomery NE because Wal-Mart is expected to take over the site for a new Neighborhood Market.
Page One owner Steven Morado Stout said late Thursday that he had negotiated a lease for a new location in the Mountain Run Shopping Center.
The bookstore will take over a 7,000-square-foot space formerly used by Consignment Interiors.
The new address is 5850 Eubank NE and is about 1½ miles away from the existing store.
The plan is to prepare the new space throughout November and possibly do a soft opening in late December.
Page One will stay open at its current location at 11018 Montgomery NE until the new space is fully up and running.
“We’re planning to stay where we’re at through the holidays,” he said.
Stout said he’s pleased with the new spot and that the bookstore also recently emerged from bankruptcy.
Page One filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2011 but successfully emerged from the reorganization as of Nov. 1, Stout said.
