ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Veterans Day will be celebrated in Santa Fe on Monday with a downtown parade and ceremony.
The parade kicks off at 10:30 a.m. in front of Fire Station #1 at Bishop’s Lodge and Murales roads. The parade will proceed south on Bishop’s Lodge Road through downtown Santa Fe and the Plaza, before ending at the Santa Fe Veterans Memorial at the northwest corner of the Bataan Memorial Building at Montezuma Avenue and Galisteo Street. There, a ceremony will be presented by VFW Post 2951.
All veterans are encouraged to march or ride in the parade, and the public is invited to watch the parade and follow it to the ceremony. This year’s parade grand marshal is Pete Comstock, state commander of the New Mexico Military Order of the Purple Heart.
The theme of this year’s ceremony is “Honoring Purple Heart Recipients.” Comstock will give the keynote speech.
After the ceremony, VFW Post 2951 will host a free luncheon at 307 Montezuma Ave., one block west of the ceremony site.
