ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Veterans Day will be commemorated on Sunday and Monday with several area events. They include:
VFW Post 5432 in Corrales, VFW Post 5890 in Rio Rancho and American Legion Post 69 in Alameda are sponsoring a parade in honor of Veterans Day on Sunday. Veterans and active-duty military personnel are invited to take part.
Participants will gather at 1:15 p.m. at the Catholic Church parking lot at 5015 Corrales Road opposite Dixon Road. The parade will proceed south on Corrales Road for 1.2 miles, ending at the Post Office by Jones Road. After the parade, there will be an open house from 3 to 6 p.m. at American Legion Post 69, 9000 Fourth Street NW, where the Headquarters Troop Regimental Band from New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell will perform a tribute concert.
A public ceremony will be held at the Rio Rancho Veterans Monument at 11 a.m. Monday.
The event will feature guest speakers, including Mayor Tom Swisstack, and live music.
The Veterans Monument is next to Esther Bone Memorial Library on Pinetree Road, off Southern Boulevard.
There will be a public ceremony at 1 p.m. Monday at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Camino del Pueblo and Camino Barrio Nuevo, outside the former Sandoval County Court House.
