Lobos up one spot in AP Top 25, down one in coaches poll (view polls)

........................................................................................................................................................................................

One game, one win and the New Mexico Lobos moved up one spot in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 poll.

The Lobos moved from No. 23 in the AP preseason Top 25 poll to No. 22 in the first regular season poll released on Monday morning.

In the USA Today Coaches poll, however, the Lobos dropped one spot to 21 after the team’s 88-52 blowout victory over Alabama A&M on Saturday.

The Lobos’ 240 points in the AP poll is 88 behind No. 21 Notre Dame and just five points ahead of No. 23 Baylor. UNM gained 27 points since the preseason poll.

UNM is the only Mountain West team ranked this week in either poll, although both Boise State (24) and UNLV (6) received points in the “others receiving votes” category of the AP poll. Boise State (14) also received votes in the “others receiving votes” category of the coaches poll.
