A supervisor in the city of Albuquerque’s Solid Waste Management Department has claimed his $1 million lottery prize.
New Mexico lottery officials say Andrew Torn claimed his Powerball winnings on Monday.
His quick-pick ticket matched the five white numbers drawn in the May 14 game. A Power Play option boosted the amount of his prize.
The 48-year-old Torn says he checked the numbers Sunday morning on the lottery’s website and discovered he had won. He says he thanked God and had a cup of coffee.
Torn plans to use the money to buy a home and outfit the backyard with a spa.
Torn bought the ticket at a Chevron Food Mart in northeast Albuquerque.
