ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Manzano Mountains State Park near Mountainair is being closed to the public because of the extreme fire danger, the State Parks Division announced Wednesday.
The division said in a news release a complete closure of the park will take effect on Friday (May 20) at 2 p.m.
The news release said the adjacent Cibola National Forest’s Mountainair Ranger District implemented a full closure of the Manzano Mountains and Gallinas Mountains that went into to effect Wednesday (May 18) at 8 a.m. Manzano Mountains State Park is being closed in cooperation and support of the Cibola closure, according to the news release.
Mountain Mountains State Park will remain closed to the public until further notice, the news release said. Reservation customers are being notified and offered alternative reservations at other parks or refunds.
