Orientation for adults and teens who would like to be summer volunteers at the ABQ BioPark will be held on Saturday (May 21).
The city agency said in a news release Thursday that the orientation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon at the Zoo and will provide information about the summer volunteer positions at the Zoo, Aquarium and Botanic Garden.
The positions include BioPark Nature Guides for teens 14 and older, Conservation Camp Counselors, Touchpool Volunteers or Horticulture Volunteers for volunteers 16 and older, and BioPark Greeters for people 18 and older, according to the news release. The news release said the summer volunteers can explore their areas of interest, from marine biology to zoology to horticulture or education.
Tallie Segel, interim education curator, said the volunteers provide information and interactive experiences that are very important to the experience people have when they visit the BioPark.
“It’s a great experience for volunteers, too, because they get to learn about an area of personal interest and see a little of the behind-the-scenes work at the BioPark,” Segel said.
