Geoff Grammer’s AP Top 25 men’s basketball ballot for Dec. 16

........................................................................................................................................................................................

A couple of corrections for team’s I was just wrong on in last week’s ballot.

Despite not having played much of anybody prior, a week ago I really still thought Boise State’s offense alone was good enough to be a Top 25. Not only did they lose on the road to a talented Kentucky team, I thought they lost composure down the stretch and showed if you take away their ability to drive into the paint, you take away their whole offense.

Of course not every team has a future lottery pick like Willie Cauley-Stein protecting the rim as does Kentucky, but the Broncos went ahead and lost at home to St. Mary’s on Saturday and pretty much put an exclamation point on the overrated tag now hanging over their head.

As for the other major correction I think I had to make this week was Iowa. Even though the Hawkeyes lost on the road at rival Iowa State, I pretty much realized a week ago I was making a mistake by leaving them off my Dec. 9 ballot. So even in an 0-1 week, I moved Iowa onto my ballot this week without hesitation after watching their game Friday.

As for the rest of my ballot, rip it to shreds and let me know where I screwed up or where I might actually be right by contacting my on Twitter @GeoffGrammer or email me at ggrammer@abqjournal.com.
