The former owners of India Palace are back with a new Albuquerque restaurant.

Brothers Baldev and Rajinder Singh opened the India Grill this week at 6501 Wyoming NE.

The restaurant — which takes over the former location of Straight Up Pizza — offers a daily lunch buffet and nightly dinner service.

Baldev Singh said he returns to the local restaurant scene with more professional seasoning. He said he sold his last location of India Palace in 2011 (both Albuquerque locations have since closed) and spent the past two years honing his culinary skills in his native India.

“I went to India to get some more experience,” he said.

India Grill — which Singh said will be open Christmas Day — offers a lunch buffet from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The dinner menu is available from 5-10 p.m.

The restaurant is on Wyoming, between Academy and San Antonio. The phone number is 797-4243.
