Jeremiah Burns, 32, of Dulce, a member of the Jicarilla Apache Nation, pleaded guilty Friday to a federal charge of involuntary manslaughter.

Burns was arrested in August on an indictment charging him with killing a man on Oct. 22, 2011, while driving while impaired on the Jicarilla Apache reservation.

Under his plea agreement, Burns admitted driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, and will be sentenced to 20 months in federal prison, followed by a term of supervised release to be determined by a judge. Burns’ sentencing hearing has yet to be scheduled.
