Changes to RR Animal Control operating hours

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Rio Rancho Animal Control has changed it hours, according to a police department news release.

Animal Control will now remain open during lunch time and will be open as follows:

Office hours, for such things as administrative transactions including reclaims, licenses, fines and fees. Monday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m; Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Kennel hours, for such things as access to kennels to view shelter animals and adoptions. Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Animal Control is located at 3441 Northern Blvd.

“The intent of these changes is to increase the opportunity for citizens to adopt, turn in animals, and pay fees,” according to the news release. “One of the goals of increasing adoptions is to also decrease euthanasia. These changes are being accomplished using existing staffing by staggering shift start times and lunch breaks.”

The new hours went into effect Monday.
