ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — On Tuesday, the filmed in New Mexico crime drama, “Killer Women” debuted with 3.87 million viewers overall.

According to industry insiders, the premiere was flat for a major network series, but shows potential for growth.

“Killer Women” follows Molly Parker – played by Tricia Helfer – who is recently divorced and the daughter of a sheriff. Parker uses her wit – she was also a former beauty queen – to rise to the top of the Texas Rangers. The show focuses on Parker as she searches for wanted female serial killers.

Albuquerque doubles for San Antonio, Texas, in the series, which began filming in September 2013 and wrapped up production in late December after shooting at locations all around the metro area. It will have an eight-episode run on Tuesdays beginning today. The episode that aired on Tuesday was shot in Texas. The production moved to New Mexico to film the remaining seven episodes.

Also on the viewers side, “Killer Women” had a .09 demo rating in the coveted 18-49 demo.

In comparison to other TV shows shot in New Mexico — such as AMC’s “Breaking Bad” and USA Network’s “In Plain Sight”  and A&E’s “Longmire” – “Killer Women” is on par with all of the critically acclaimed series.
