An Albuquerque Police Department detective shot at a fleeing suspect’s car Thursday near the Walgreens at Southern Boulevard and State Route 528, according to Rio Rancho police.
RRPD spokeswoman Janet Garcia said Repeat Offender Project detectives were trying to arrest 33-year-old Jeremy Robertson, who was wanted on felony warrants, when they tailed him from Albuquerque to the Walgreen’s at Southern Boulevard and State Route 528.
When officers approached Robertson in the parking lot of Walgreens, he fled on foot to the silver sedan he had been driving. When he got in a car and started to drive off, a detective attempted to stop him by shooting out a tire, according to Garcia.
Robertson led police on a mile-and-a-half chase before crashing near the Entrada Pointe apartment complex and once again fleeing on foot. Officers captured Robertson a short time later after a foot chase, Garcia said.
Police said no one was injured or shot by police.
According to online court records, Robertson is wanted for charges including aggravated assault on a police officer, aggravated fleeing, conspiracy and illegally receiving or transferring a vehicle.
