Aggie men get another easy WAC victory

LAS CRUCES – Tshilidzi Nephawe scored 11 points with 11 rebounds as New Mexico State cruised to a 78-54 victory over Idaho on Saturday night.

Daniel Mullings and K.C. Ross-Miller each added 16 points for the Aggies (14-5, 3-0 Western Athletic Conference) who posted their seventh straight win. DK Eldridge chipped in with 15 points and six rebounds.

The Aggies pounded the Vandals early, going 24-4 to start the first half and lead 39-23 at the break. A Mullings 3-pointer at 15:00 in the second half capped a 14-4 Aggies run, expanding the New Mexico State advantage to 26 points.

Idaho was only 18-of-52 from the field overall and only 4-of-14 from beyond the arc. The Vandals also committed 17 turnovers during the contest.

Bira Seck led the Vandals (7-11, 1-3) with nine points and nine rebounds.

Idaho has now lost five of its last six games.

Women

IDAHO 79, NMSU 51: In Moscow, Idaho, the league-leading Vandals (11-7, 4-0) scored the first 17 points of the game, keeping New Mexico State scoreless for nearly the first five minutes.

Stacey Barr and Ali Forde had mirror 16-point, 10-rebound games for Idaho. Alyssa Charlton added 13 points.

Forde, a 6-foot-2 sophomore post player, also had seven blocks for Idaho.

Junior Danesia Williamson scored 21 points for the Aggies (4-12, 1-2), but NMSU shot 23 percent (19-for-82) from the field. New Mexico State shot only 8-of-45 in the first half to trail 46-23.
