The new store is expected to open in March and will operate in addition to the company’s existing Thunderbird Harley-Davidson.
Duke City will be located at 8605 Lomas Boulevard NE in Albuquerque. The 12,000-square-foot location will provide more retail space for motorcycles, parts and accessories, as well as more service bays for customers in need of motorcycle maintenance or repair, the company said in a news release.
“We’re just getting really big and decided (adding) another part of town would be good to keep up with the demand,” Thunderbird marketing manager Kristen Sweeney told the Journal.
Thunderbird is taking over a former RV sales lot on Lomas near Wyoming. The new site is almost ready, Sweeney said, and the company soon will host a hiring fair. Sweeney estimated the new location will start with about 30 employees.
Thunderbird General Manager Sean Delaney and Assistant Manager Karen Henz will oversee Duke City as well. The store also will share the local Turquoise Trail H.O.G. Chapter.
A grand opening celebration is slated for late March.
