SILVER CITY (AP) — Police have not found any signs of a missing Silver City teenager after searching a landfill.
Silver City police and the Grant County Sheriff’s Department served a search warrant on the landfill last week after receiving information that the body of 18-year-old David Ortiz Jr. had been placed in a trash bin and later dumped at the landfill some time in November 2010.
The Silver City Sun-News reports investigators remained at the landfill conducting the search until Sunday afternoon.
Through records kept by the Solid Waste Authority, officers were able to pinpoint the area that was being used to dump trash last November.
Ortiz’s family has said they don’t believe Ortiz ran away because he was about to graduate high school and had just been granted visitation with his son.
