UNM football: City settles with Vega

........................................................................................................................................................................................

The City of Albuquerque has settled a lawsuit filed by University of New Mexico football quarterback David Vega for $45,000, according to Vega’s attorney, Colin Hunter.
Vega filed suit after his arrest caused him to be suspended for the entire 2012 season. In the lawsuit, Vega contended police unlawfully entered his home, then arrested him after he refused to consent to a search of the premises after the fact.
The charges against Vega were dismissed in April. He then was reinstated by coach Bob Davie and saw action as a backup quarterback last fall.
Hunter informed the Journal of the settlement in an email Tuesday evening.
Vega, a walk-on who starred at Roswell Goddard and New Mexico Military Institute before coming to UNM, will be a senior this fall.
