ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The New Mexico Senate and House recessed Wednesday night until 8:30 a..m today.
In a strikingly orderly evening, the House recessed at 10:38 p.m. and the Senate wrapped up its floor session at 11 p.m. The chambers have been notorious in the past for working into the early hours of the morning near sessions’ end.
Adjournment of this year’s 30-day regular session of the Legislature is at noon today.
Before leaving for the night, senators raised questions about a $233 million public works package, including $86 million for water projects. However, the Senate passed the measure 42-0 with an amendment and sent it back to the House for concurrence.
Earlier Wednesday, lawmakers sent Gov. Susana Martinez a $6.2 billion state budget bill.
