stoneage2ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Stone Age Climbing Gym is ready to make its move.

After 17 years on Yale, Stone Age will close its original indoor climbing facility March 18 in favor of a new location more than twice the size.

The new Stone Age — located at 4130 Cutler NE — will open to the public at 10 a.m. March 22, owner Bryan Pletta told the Journal on Monday.

Crews have spent the last seven months transforming an old spa and billiards store into the 23,000-square-foot indoor climbing facility. The new gym was designed with taller climbing walls — up to 45 feet high — as well as more than double the bouldering terrain. Other features include a dedicated group fitness classroom and more traditional gym fitness equipment.

The entire project cost about $4.3 million, Pletta said.
