ALBUQUERQUE — Deana Bustos finished with 13 points, but it wasn’t enough to save the season of West Las Vegas.
Three players scored in double figures to lead Hope Christian to a 57-40 win on Tuesday at The Pit.
Alivia Lewis led the way with 19 points, followed by Hanna Valencia (12) and Shelby Perry (11), respectively. The win advances the Huskies to Thursday’s semifinal game at 11:30 a.m.
The Lady Dons led 15-12 after the first period and 28-26 at the half, but were outscored 31-12 in the second half to conclude their season at 20-9.
“We talked about coming out in the third quarter intense and getting that knockout punch in there. We didn’t do that. They did that to us,” WLV coach Jose Medina said. “Their intensity picked up on offense and defense, and they were able to build a lead that we couldn’t bounce back from.”
After hitting 8 of 18 shots from the field in the first half, WLV went 4-for-20 the rest of the way. The Lady Dons also committed 22 turnovers against 12 for the Huskies.
