RIO RANCHO — No. 10 Shiprock advanced to the Class 3A quarterfinals at the Santa Ana Star Center after a 55-50 upset win over No. 7 Sandia Prep. … No. 2 St. Michael’s enters the tourney having lost two just two 3A teams this season: No. 1 Hope Christian and Sandia Prep.

1ST QUARTER: Shiprock 18, St. Michael’s 7
– Shiprock opens the contest on a 9-1 run
– Shiprock’s largest lead 18-5 inside the final two minutes of the period.

2ND QUARTER: Shiprock 27, St. Michael’s 17
– The Horsemen outscored the Chieftains, 10-9 in the second period.
– Shiprock has hit 11 of 25 from the field in the half, against 8-of-24 shooting for the Horsemen.

3RD QUARTER: St. Mike’s 36, Shiprock 33
- St. Mike’s takes first lead of the game with 26.9 seconds left in the period, at 34-33
– Justin Flores has nine points and Isaiah Dominguez, six, to lead the comeback

4TH QUARTER:
– St. Mike’s opens on a 6-3 run, leads 42-36 (6:06). Bradley Vaughan has four unanswered points during the run.
– Horsemen build double-digit lead, at 4:03 mark. SM 50, Shiprock 39.
– Shiprock answers with an 8-4 run. SM 54, Shiprock 47 (1:41)
