An official recount of the results from District 3 council race in the March 4 municipal election confirmed the winner as Cheryl Everett.

Everett’s opponent, Tamara Gutierrez asked for the recount after results from the original canvass on March 7 showed she lost by an 11-vote margin.

The recountĀ  was conducted Thursday morning at City Hall. It showed no change from the original canvass.

Gutierrez, the incumbent who was seeking reelection, received 496 votes while Everett received 507 votes.

Everett was officially sworn into office as District 3 councilor on Monday and attended her first council meeting on Wednesday.
