MMA: Dodson added to June 7 UFC card

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — John Dodson, the popular flyweight from Moriarty, has been added to the June 7 UFC “Fight Night” card scheduled for Tingley Coliseum. The UFC made the announcement Wednesday.
Dodson (15-6), nicknamed “The Magician,” is scheduled to face Arizonan John Moraga (14-2) in a rematch of a December 2010 fight won by Dodson via unanimous decision.
As previously announced, the June 7 main event matches lightweights Benson Henderson (20-3) and Rustam Khabilov (17-1). Khabilov trains at Albuquerque’s Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA, as does Dodson.
A welterweight fight between Bobby Voelker (24-11) and Lance Benoist (6-2) also has been earmarked for the card. Later Wednesday, a bantamweight fight between Yaotzin Mesa (20-9) and Sergio Pettis (10-1) was added.
The card is UFC’s first in the Albuquerque area. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale April 18.
The Dodson-Moraga fight like will have a major positive impact for the winner. Both fighters have lost to UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson, and both fighters would like nothing more to get another shot at “Mighty Mouse.”
