An Albuquerque firefighter is being investigated by the department after he allegedly joked on Facebook about APD shooting people, according to KRQE-TV.
Albuquerque Fire Department spokeswoman Melissa Romero confirmed Tuesday that the department launched an investigation into firefighter Kenneth Barncastle, whose Facebook profile appears to have been taken down.
The television station reported that Barncastle said he would join APD if the department had a “criminal population reduction unit.”
Romero said the department has a social media policy but said he couldn’t retrieve the exact language Tuesday evening.
“We take this policy very seriously and have started an internal investigation into firefighter Barncastle’s postings,” Chief David Downey wrote in a statement from Romero. “After the investigation has been completed, appropriate action will be taken.”
