New Mexico holds the five-minute rain record

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — My friend Cynthia Barnett, who’s working on a book about rain, alerts me to the fact that New Mexico holds the record for the most rainfall in a five-minute period: 2.03 inches on June 5, 1960, in Alamogordo Creek, NM.
