Indie rock band Bear Hands is touring in support of its current album, “Distraction.”

Val Loper’s tour hasn’t stopped since the beginning of 2014.

Loper has performed at South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin. He’s been in England for a month or so. Oh, and then there were the shows in Seattle.

“It’s never really slowed down,” he says during a recent interview. “It’s been a very weird year because we haven’t had much time off.”

Loper says it’s been one day, to be exact.

“The day we had off in Los Angeles, we were off tour but still working,” he recalls. “That was the day we spent 12 hours filming the video for ‘Peacekeeper.’ Oh, and this is the second time that I’ve been sick on tour. It’s all catching up to me.”

Loper is part of the indie rock band Bear Hands. The lineup also includes TJ Orscher, Ted Feldman and Dylan Rau. The band released its latest album, “Distraction,” a few months ago.

Loper says Bear Hands began to piece together songs for “Distraction” nearly two years ago.

“We were touring in support of our last record and just began writing,” he says. “It starts with Dylan or Ted and then we all fill it out to make it sound like us.”

When it comes to making videos for the band, Loper says the majority have been done by the band.

In fact, Rau and Feldmand first met each other as film students at Wesleyan University in Connecticut.

Loper says that either guy takes the helm and provides the treatment for the videos.

“Making videos isn’t a fun process because it’s a lot of hurry up and wait,” he says. “But if you’re going to be stuck with a group of people, they might as well be some of your best friends. Our relationships have grown a lot on this tour because we’re stuck with each other on tour.”
