NMSU did not return a request for a comment.

The 360-pound Bhullar averaged 10.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.4 blocks a game last season. He was the most outstanding player in the 2013 WAC tournament and was named to the league’s all-defensive team in 2014. He shot 64.8 percent from the field as a sophomore and 63.3 percent for his career.

Bhullar’s family has paid for him to train with former NBA coach John Lucas the past two weeks in Houston at John Lucas Enterprises, the Las Cruces Sun-News reported.

The deadline for NCAA underclassmen to withdraw their names from early entry consideration for the June 26 NBA draft was Tuesday. The NBA deadline to enter the draft is April 27.

Bhullar was listed as the 99th best prospect by DraftExpress.com. ESPN ranked him 137th overall and 16th among center prospects, citing his sheer size but questioning his conditioning.

His 7-3 brother, Tanveer, redshirted at New Mexico State last season.
