Gov. Susana Martinez is heading to Utah today to raise money for her re-election campaign with GOP Gov. Gary Herbert and speak at a Republican conference, according to her campaign.
The governor, who has traveled out of state numerous times in recent months, will then head to California and hold weekend fundraisers in Irvine and San Diego.
Martinez is seeking re-election this year for a second four-year term. She will likely face the winner of a five-way Democratic gubernatorial primary in the general election.
Based on campaign reports filed last week, Martinez has a larger campaign war chest than any of her potential Democratic opponents. The governor reported having roughly $4.2 million in her campaign account, nearly 10 times more than any Democratic candidate.
Martinez will return to New Mexico on Sunday, campaign spokesman Chris Sanchez said today. Her re-election campaign will cover the costs of her travel.
