Chili’s headed to Bernalillo

Options for casual dining in northern Rio Rancho and Bernalillo will get a boost this year with the arrival of a new Chili’s restaurant.

A corporate spokeswoman for Chili’s confirmed this week that the chain plans to open a new 6,079-square-foot restaurant with seating for 252 people in Bernalillo sometime during the fall.

The location is on the west side of N.M. 528 roughly opposite the Walmart plaza in Bernalillo, the town’s planning and zoning administrator Janet Cunningham-Stephens said.

Bernalillo’s planning and zoning commission approved a conditional use permit for restaurant use at the 2.23-acre site in August, she said.

Chili’s also has a restaurant in Rio Rancho on the southwest corner of Southern Blvd. and Unser, near the Premiere Cinema movie theater.
