Marble Brewery upgrading its patio

........................................................................................................................................................................................

MarbleGetting a pint of pilsner on the patio at Marble Brewery will soon come with a little more shade.

Work is set to begin next week on a renovation at the Albuquerque brewery that will include a new surface and shade structure for the 2,000-square-foot patio. The upgrades will eliminate the need for pop-up umbrellas and offer a clearer view of the stage, according to Ted Rice, Marble’s co-founder and brewmaster.

“It will be a huge improvement to the ambiance out there,” said Rice, noting the project should take a couple of weeks and also will include restroom renovations.

While the existing patio will be closed during the process, the outdoor tables and seats will be moved temporarily to the north side of the building “so we can still keep the outdoor beer-consuming vibe flowing,” Rice said.

Marble, located at 111 Marble NW, also has another project in its sights — a 7,000-square-foot expansion to accommodate additional beer production — but Rice said Marble still needs to clear a few hurdles before that begins.

“We were hoping to do it two years ago, (but) there’s a renewed effort (now),” he said.
