ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Former University of New Mexico post players Alex Kirk and Cameron Bairstow have received invitations to the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago from May 14-18.
Kirk, the 7-foot center from Los Alamos, and Bairstow, a 6-9 power forward from Brisbane, Australia, are among 60 draft-eligible players who received invitations to the event. Players are selected by vote tallies after ballots are submitted to all 30 NBA teams, who then list players they’d like to see invited. The top 60 vote-getters receive invitations.
Kirk’s agent, Graham Boone of Tandem Sports & Entertainment, and Bairstow’s agent, Jeff Austin of Octagon, confirmed the invitations to the Journal on Saturday.
A year ago, former Lobo Tony Snell was invited and impressed league executives and general managers and was eventually selected in the first round, No. 20 overall, by the Chicago Bulls.
