ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The NCAA has honored University of New Mexico’s men’s basketball, men’s tennis and women’s golf programs in its annual APR Public Recognition Report for having APR scores in the top 10 percent for its sports. Men’s tennis and women’s golf have 1,000 multiyear APR scores, which essentially is a perfect graduation rate by the NCAA count. It is the first such acclaim for men’s hoops, which scored a program-high 990 APR score. All APR scores will be announced May 14. UNM says all 21 sports will reach the NCAA’s acceptable benchmark of 930.
“Henry Villegas and his staff in the Student Success Center work very hard along with our coaches to help our student-athletes reach their full potential,” said UNM athletic director Paul Krebs. “We have several other programs right that were right on the cusp for getting recognized today as well, so I’m very proud of the work our student-athletes have put in.”
