The Rio Rancho Raptors lost the state boys lacrosse championship to the Santa Fe Prep Griffins, 10-9, on May 3, at Balloon Fiesta Park.

The Rio Rancho squad, coached by brothers Chris and Brian Baker, was made up of 34 Cleveland and Rio Rancho high school players, who finished the regular season with a 5-2 record.

It marked the seventh season in a row the Rio Rancho team has played for the state title, winning in 2009, ’10, ’12 and ’13.
