N.M. Highlands gets at-large NCAA baseball bid

NDIANAPOLIS – Fingers were crossed really tight among Cowboy nation, but all the good thoughts paid off as the New Mexico Highlands baseball team (32-20) will continue the 2014 season when it again makes the jog to Grand Junction, Colorado to take on fellow-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foe Colorado Mesa in the First Round of the NCAA Division II Baseball Tournament.

Highlands and Colorado Mesa are the only teams to qualify for the NCAA Tournament from the RMAC.

The Cowboys, who are seeded sixth in the South Central Region, are scheduled to take on the top-seeded Mavericks on Thursday (May 15) at a tentative time of 11 a.m. Joining the two RMAC schools in the tournament are #2 West Texas A&M (35-19), #3 Texas A&M International (34-18), #4 St. Edwards (39-14) and #5 Tarleton State (29-22).
