........................................................................................................................................................................................

Less than a week after wrapping up their six-player 2014 men’s basketball recruiting class, the New Mexico Lobos on Thursday received a verbal commitment from guard Anthony Mathis of West Linn, Ore.

The 6-foot-3 Mathis had scholarship offers from Oregon State, Portland and UNLV.

He told the Oregonian newspaper he was offered by UNM head coach Craig Neal on Wednesday and accepted Thursday.

He is the third commitment for the 2015 class, joining Beaumont, Texas, point guard Jordan Hunter and Tempe, Ariz., wing Dane Kuiper.

Mathis was a first-team, Class 6A, All-State selection in Oregon and helped lead his team to a state title in March.
