Anytime Fitness expanding in Albuquerque

........................................................................................................................................................................................

anytimefitnesslogoAnytime Fitness — which describes itself as the fastest-growing fitness club franchise in the world — is adding another Albuquerque location.

The new gym will go in near Cost Plus at Menaul and Carlisle, absorbing two adjacent suites in the American Square shopping center.

Construction on the 4,800-square-foot site should begin soon and the gym could open by late August, according to franchisee Ira Herman, who is opening the gym with his wife, Eshita.

Anytime Fitness will have the traditional gym trappings — including cardio and weight equipment — as well as a fitness room with a video screen and a host of virtual exercise classes that members can access when they want.

“It gives us a lot of flexibility,” Herman said.

Anytime Fitness is a 24-hour gym that clients can enter at any time using an electronic key. There are three existing locations in Albuquerque and a total of 2,400 worldwide.
