ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — It appears Las Cruces boxer Austin Trout (26-2, 14 knockouts) will return to action this summer against Australian veteran Daniel Dawson (40-3-1, 26 KOs), exact date and site to be determined.
Louie Burke, Trout’s trainer, told the Journal on Thursday that the bout was set for July 19 but said the site was yet to be agreed upon. The story linked to here says the date isn’t established, either.
Trout, the former WBA junior middleweight champion, lost his last two outings — to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Erislandy Lara. Alvarez and Lara will face each other in July.
