Fish and Wildlife releases 2 wolf pups in NM

Possible drowning victim choppered to UNM Children’s Hospital

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — An 5-year-old boy was transported from Los Alamos to the University of New Mexico Children’s Hospital in Albuquerque by helicopter after an apparent drowning incident, according to a press release from Los Alamos County.

The name and current condition of the boy were not being released by the county or the hospital late Wednesday afternoon.

Few details about the incident were available, other than that it occurred Wednesday morning at Barranca Mesa Pool, a privately owned facility not run by the county.

According to the release, the child was non-responsive after being pulled from the pool. Lifeguards immediately initiated rescue efforts while police and fire ambulance crews were dispatched to the scene.

Los Alamos Fire Department teams took over rescue efforts upon their arrival and the boy was transported to the Los Alamos Medical Center. The parents were with the boy at the hospital and accompanied him of the flight to Albuquerque.
