SANTA FE, N.M. — An arrest warrant has been issued for a second man involved in the beating death of a 65-year-old Albuquerque man in his home last month.
Phillip Martin, 25, is wanted on an open count of murder charge, Albuquerque officer Tanner Tixier said in a statement.
Richard Zarate was fatally beaten in his home on the 700 block of Shire on May 23, and a relative found him on May 27. Zarate was unconscious until his death on June 6, according to court documents.
Marcus Hamilton, 21, was arrested Friday on suspicion of murder in Zarate’s death. Hamilton told police Friday that he and Martin stomped on Zarate’s face and took his wallet, according to the documents.
Hamilton, Martin and Samantha Ross were video recorded using Zarate’s credit card. Ross was arrested Friday on suspicion of forgery, theft of a credit card, fraud and conspiracy charges.
