SANTA FE – A woman who police say had six prior DWI charges now has a seventh after they say the Cadillac she was driving ended up on a Santa Fe sidewalk after taking an aluminum utility pole out of the ground.
Yvonne Armendariz, 35, was arrested just after 3 a.m. Sunday after residents called police to report a crash at Country Club Road and Camino Rojo, police said.
The callers told dispatchers that the car’s occupants appeared to be intoxicated and were trying to move the vehicle. Armendariz told police she was a passenger in the car and that the driver fled but they determined she was the driver, police said. Armendariz had slight injuries, and a search warrant was obtained to get a blood draw to test for blood alcohol content.
Armendariz was booked for felony DWI and other charges.
